Job Title: Construction Electrician (Commercial New Construction)

Job Description

This role is for an experienced construction electrician who installs complete electrical systems on large-scale commercial new construction projects. You will work from the ground up, handling underground distribution, conduit systems, power distribution equipment, lighting, and branch circuitry while ensuring all work complies with project specifications, NEC requirements, and site safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Install electrical systems for new commercial construction projects from rough-in through final completion.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and installation details to plan and execute work accurately.
• Install EMT, RMC, PVC, and underground conduit systems in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Measure, fabricate, and install conduit runs using mechanical and hydraulic benders.
• Pull, route, and terminate power, lighting, and control wiring for various building systems.
• Install cable tray, supports, strut systems, and electrical raceways to support wiring and equipment.
• Install switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, disconnects, and other power distribution equipment.
• Lay out and install branch circuits, feeders, and electrical equipment based on project drawings and specifications.
• Install lighting systems, occupancy controls, receptacles, and specialty electrical devices throughout the facility.
• Perform electrical equipment terminations and verify proper installation prior to energization.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical components, wiring, panels, switches, and controls as needed.
• Coordinate work activities with general contractors, project managers, and other construction trades to maintain schedules and workflow.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
• Comply with all OSHA requirements, site-specific safety policies, and NEC standards.
• Meet production schedules and project milestones while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Essential Skills

• At least 5 years of commercial electrical construction experience.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Strong ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and layout drawings.
• Extensive experience with conduit installation and bending using mechanical and hydraulic benders.
• Proficient in installing EMT, RMC, PVC, and underground conduit systems.
• Solid knowledge of commercial power distribution systems and equipment.
• Ability to install and work with switchgear, transformers, panelboards, switchboards, and disconnects.
• Skilled in pulling, routing, and terminating power, lighting, and control wiring.
• Ability to install cable tray, supports, strut systems, and electrical raceways.
• Competence in installing lighting systems, occupancy controls, receptacles, and specialty electrical devices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical components, panels, switches, and wiring.
• Familiarity with NEC requirements and commercial construction standards.
• Ability to travel for work when required.
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety practices and willingness to follow site-specific safety policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Experience verifying proper installation and terminations prior to energizing equipment.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with general contractors, project managers, and multiple trades on site.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality workmanship on schedule-driven projects.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient work area.
• Comfort working on high-profile, complex construction projects.

Work Environment

This position is based on a large new construction site where a new state prison facility is being built, consisting of approximately 17 buildings. You will frequently work outdoors and may be exposed to the elements, as well as inside buildings that may not yet have climate control. The typical shift runs from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a 45-minute lunch break, and you may be asked to work 5 or 6 days per week at certain points in the project depending on workload and schedule demands. The environment is a busy commercial construction site with multiple trades present, and you will use standard electrical construction tools and equipment while adhering to all site safety requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
